Did you get to the Media Centre?

The great thing about the media centre is that you can sign up for more company mailings than Carter's got pills!

Often, you'll see some of your favourite hunting/shooting celebs drop by. They tend to go by the refreshment areas too, but I think that the guys with TV shows or that are regular magazine contributors are checking out new ad pix of themselves!

I was talking with Wes from Epps Sporting Goods this afternoon and he was filling me in on some of the stuff that he saw and did. One thing that got my attention was that Choate Stocks canceled their booth. I had been waiting for six months for one of their stocks. It was back ordered and Wes was going to talk to them about it. I wonder if they are in financial trouble or just couldn't find someone to work the show?

Some of the businesses are shutting their doors. Charles Daly is another. Their shotgun and rifle division is toast.

You said that you didn't get the chance to go by the reloading section. Barnes is being bought by Remington. I wondered how much info was released by them at the show.

The media room was 4/5 brochures and 1/5 seating area... and it was a BIG room. Put it this way, the empty backpack I checked on the way there topped out at almost 40 lbs on the way back.

I can sympathize. I think that I said in another post that the second year I mailed a bunch of stuff home. I also got put on a lot of mailing lists.

I know that we wouldn't necessarily check out the same exhibits, but the single biggest thing that struck me was the sheer size of the place and the fact that it was full to the brim with shooting stuff. It's breathtaking for someone from Canada or some other place where the shooting population is small.

I swear that Leupold had more scopes on display than we have in the whole country! It was pretty much the same everywhere I went. I'll bet that you would have killed to be able to take home some of the show specials.

I believe only people with media credentials were allowed in - even if they had "guests" ... at least when I was there I saw them turn away a few non-media folks.

It was ok, but a bit of brochure overload. I prefer to look at a product first hand than leaf through a brochure - otherwise what's the point of going.

I'm hoping to make it again next year.
